Presented jointly by The Shaw Prize Foundation and the Hong Kong Science Museum, and organised by the South China Morning Post, the “Roundtable with Shaw Laureate – Future of Science: Breakthroughs and Impacts” is a new initiative that aims to facilitate a profound discussion between Shaw Laureates on their personal research journeys and insights into the future of science amidst a new era of global collaboration and the rise of AI.
The roundtable will be held on 14 November (Thursday), at the Hong Kong Science Museum, from 2:45-4:00 pm. We are honoured to host Shrinivas R. Kulkarni, recipient of The Shaw Prize in Astronomy 2024, for his pioneering work in time-domain astronomy, which has transformed our understanding of the dynamic universe. We also welcome Swee Lay Thein and Stuart Orkin, co-recipients of The Shaw Prize in Life Science & Medicine 2024, whose groundbreaking discoveries in haemoglobin genetics have paved the way for revolutionary treatments for blood diseases. Peter Sarnak, recipient of The Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences 2024, whose work has influenced the advancement of various mathematical disciplines, will also join this distinguished gathering. This event promises to be a celebration of innovation, insight, and global scientific achievement.
